Milestones of Gratitude

Milestones of Gratitude
The other day I was chatting with my granddaughter about milestones in life. She is graduating into high school and recently has passed senior music and swimming exams. She said she had to write a short speech about her experience at her school – highlights, who was most helpful, best teacher etc.
My odometer has 60 more years on it than hers and I suggested I have had many more milestones than her just because I’m a geezer grandpa. I told her that my recent birthday was one milestone where my gratitude for her and the rest of the family was a joy for me. Hopefully she has many more milestones than I have but we are heading in the same direction – toward the light and love of God.
It was 37 years ago this month that a group met with Susan and me to create what became Touchstone. One half of my life has been spent on this little endeavour. I told my granddaughter that any milestone or accomplishment in my life has been surrounded with gratitude because none of it is possible without the help and love of friends and the grace of God.
It was 20 years ago this month that Keri Tabet joined our little team and has efficiently and with great relational skill kept all the administration and events going and fruitful. A wonderful milestone because she and John have also become our good friends.
The journey takes many twists and turns but finding gratitude milestones is a good gift from our loving God.
A Prayer for Today
May the building stones of our lives be remortared, may our dreams be restocked with sacred meaning, may our journeys lead toward our true destiny.
God of the longest day, may my life be a long day for you, always reflecting your light, open, awake …. For Jesus’ sake
